Jay Reatard, despite an unfortunate name, channels the best of Frank Black and the Pixies but makes it his own. My friend Mark sent me this track after hearing it at Amoeba Records (funny, seems like they play nothing but spacey lounge techno every time i'm in there) and I've been obsessing over it ever since.

Apparently even though he's just 26 years old, Jay has been very Pollard-esque in his musical output. Having fronted the Memphis garage punk outfit the Reatards and co founded Lost Sounds, he also plays drums for The Final Solutions (Dirk Nowitzki's favorite band, I've heard), plays in The Angry Angels and runs Shattered Records, a label dedicated to keeping you abreast of the Reatard's several endeavors. Whether or not he's ever played a show at Sertoma has proven to be inconclusive.
