Helium "Pat's Trick"

The first time I ever heard Helium was on Beavis & Butthead. One of their videos was on and the boys were commenting on how the lead singer chick looked sleepy. Mary Timony truly did look like she just woke up on harsh sedatives in that video.
Helium is no more now, gone the way of so many other 90s indie rock bands that I hold so dear to my heart. Mary Timony is still making records, but they just don't rock as hard as "Pat's Trick" here does. So bang your long red curly hair to this track. You think she was talking about the dude from Simply Red?

that's my favorite helium track also.
i used to like helium a lot until i saw them at a sonic youth show. i was doing the evol page then so i had all access backstage pass. i was wondering who that girl was running around backstage, grinning, giggling, having the time of her life. also - they had this huge tour bus that looked like something waylon jennings would be driving around in. sonic youth just had a couple rental cars.
then they went out and did their set - she had this sad sack - flat affect - world weary - i'm so depressed - i think i want to kill myself act she did on stage.
and then back stage again the giggly adventuresome girl again. i thought, "what was that? an affectation?" just seemed sort of disingenuous.
i heard she's a wiccan or some such...
