Yeah, I know the Archers Of Loaf aren't around anymore. I know that singer/songwriter Eric Bachmann, instead of doing the obvious and joining forces with San Diego Chargers backup running back Michael Turner to form Bachmann-Turner Overdrive 2000, instead chose to perform emotional alt country with his band Crooked Fingers. I know this song is from the year 1996. But who said I have to be current all the time?!?

This is the sound of indie rock in the 90s, it just happened to be recorded just after the turn of the century. Bachmann's voice has changed since his Archers days as well. He now sounds almost exactly like Neil Diamond doing a Bruces Springsteen impersonation. That's a good thing, by the way. But the Archers Of Loaf did have their chances to rock when they existed. Harder than most indie bands, to be sure. So sit back and pretend its 1996. I think the simpsons 'treehouse of horror' is on, and the Denver Broncos are making a run for the supr bowl. Wait a minute, 1996 sounds just like 2006! Now i'm scared. I hate the Broncos.
