Guess What I Had For Breakfast Mister? BEANS!!!

First of all, its impressive to me that Weezer has written a song I actual like this year. Its exciting news. Not since Pinkerton have I cared about this band. But debut album and Pinkerton were great enough to keep me caring, and to keep me continually disappointed. But now Weezer is set to release their Timbaland (!?!) produced red album and I have to say "Pork & Beans" reminds me of classic Weezer. Perhaps Timbaland went in the studio, listened to their songs and said "uh, look I'm not a big rock n roll guy but it seems to me you should just do what yr best at, write anthemic songs with big fuzzd out guitars. Then shoot an awesome video for yr first single that employs internet superstars like Tay Zonday, the Leave Britney Alone Guy and the Afro Ninja and Kevin will like you again. It's really all about what Kevin thinks, anyway. Guys? Guys? Are you still here?".

Un Trabajo Peligroso

This really has to be seen to be believed. A friend of mine has been talking about this video for years and he recently gave me a copy. It's Mr. T on a crazy spanish game show called El Gran Juego de Oca and its a New Years Eve show from 1994. The entire show is insane but this is probably the craziest stunt on the whole thing. Mr. T has to perform the impossible here by deactivating several panels on a suspension bridge that is rigged to explode. The look on Mr. T's face is that of sheer terror as he rushes to unscrew tiny boxes that have wires in them. Or something. I really don't know. Just watch the whole thing. Mr. T could have easily died here. Watch for his "look of death" at the very end. I may get around to putting more of this game show, as it is easily the most insane thing i have ever seen.

Working My Way Back To You, Babe

I sincerely apologize for the desolate state of POP ZEUS! ovr the last several months. No, I haven't stopped loving music like a dork, but work has garnered all of my attention. I plan to get back on the trolley (I like using slang from the twenties that no one uses anymore) this weekend. I already have a debilitating list of tracks as well as hundreds of vinyls rips to offer up, I just have to get my lazy ass to get back into the groove!

The Mountain Goats have really won me back over with their latest offering Heretic Pride. After 2006's disappointing (for me, anyway) Get Lonely, Heretic is a breath of fresh air from John Darnielle and his newfound drummer, ex- Superchunk and Robert Pollard drummer Jon Wurster, who if you ask me is almost too good to be playing with the Goats. Theres just not enough room for his passionate Keith Moon style drumming behind the the already limitless passion of Darnielle and his lyrics. The video for the album's first single "Sax Rohmer #1", directed by Ace Norton, is absolutely fantastic. I don't think I've ever seen a Mountain Goats video before and this one is perfect. So don't make another one. K? THNX!
